On December 3rd, Form 9 students of The Pupil International School participated in an enlightening guest lecture titled “Mosquito Mysteries”, delivered by Dr. Ashwani Kumar Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Collaborations) and Scientific Advisor to esteemed Chancellor, Saveetha University (SIMATS).
The session provided students with an in-depth understanding of various types of mosquitoes, their breeding habits, and the diseases they transmit. Dr. Ashwani Kumar discussed key factors contributing to the tremendous growth of mosquitos the primary source that is stagnant water. He highlighted the serious health risks associated with this and the spreading of diseases like malaria, dengue, and the Zika virus.
He also shared essential preventive measures and practical strategies to reduce mosquito exposure by empowering students with valuable knowledge to protect themselves and the community. The lecture concluded with an engaging Q&A session, encouraging active participation and thoughtful discussion.
This was an informative session that raised awareness among students about the significance of a healthy environment.
