On February 5th, 2024, students from Form 4 to Form 10 had the privilege of attending a highly informative guest lecture on ‘Awareness against Oral Cancer.’ The speaker, Prof. Dr. Murugesan Krishnan, Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Saveetha Dental College and Hospital, delivered a talk that significantly heightened awareness about oral cancer, fostering a deeper understanding of the disease and emphasizing the importance of proactive measures.
The lecture focused on equipping young individuals with knowledge about the risk factors, symptoms, and preventive measures associated with oral cancer. The aim was to empower students to make informed decisions regarding their health, recognize early signs of the disease, adopt healthier lifestyles, and seek timely medical attention when necessary.
As a visible expression of support for cancer survivors and a broader awareness initiative, students across all grades wore light purple ribbons. This simple yet impactful gesture served as a tangible expression of solidarity, symbolizing their heartfelt support for cancer survivors and a collective commitment to stand together against the challenges posed by various types of cancer.
In essence, the guest lecture was an enriching experience that went beyond a mere presentation. It served as a catalyst for action, motivating students to become proactive stewards of their well-being and advocates for spreading awareness about oral cancer.
